REbuild
Objective
The objective was to design a line of
3D-printed concrete urban furniture.
Main challenge
Understand the technology and create forms that not only reflect the unique properties of concrete but are also optimized for the printing process.
Scope
From initial sketches to finalized 3D models, the design process involved material research and close collaboration with the production team.
Ideation
The process began with hand sketches and early concept studies focused on exploring the potential of 3D-printed concrete. We tested different formal ideas to find a balance between structural logic, material expression, and urban functionality.
3D model & Visualizations
The 3D model was developed in two versions: one adapted for concrete 3D printing, with precise geometry and structural optimization, and another prepared for photorealistic rendering, featuring detailed materials, lighting, and textures.
Production
During the production phase, we worked closely with the technical team to identify and solve emerging issues. Based on our observations, we introduced design adjustments to improve printability, stability, and material efficiency.
